Getting a Challenge Course Rolling

June 25th, 2009 by davemhudson

So I talked with my potential bosses about running the ropes course all year long and i showed them they could make a profit ( s substantial profit); but they are hesitant to make it work.  They are scared it will not be a success and then the guy that okay’d it will look bad.

Really???  Those of you that know me know that when i start something and look to make some sort of business successful, i make sure that it is successful.   I do not have time for bureaucratic games and crap about weather the board thinks it is a good idea.  I know it is a good idea and i just want the chance to prove it.

But i guess that is was i get for trying to get a job in a private school.  Oh well, i am sure it will work out and if they pull the plug on it… not too much sweat off my back, i still get paid, i just don’t get paid a lot.

New Job at Old Ropes Course

June 8th, 2009 by davemhudson

My new job this summer is at SSFS in Olney, MD.  They have a ropes course in the woods that was built in 1997 (i think), and only gets used currently during the summer camp program.  It has 4 high elements and 5 low.  It is a pretty nice course considering that there is no one in charge of it throughout the year.
I am trying to convince the school board to let me run with it and use the course year round and run outside groups on it for profit and also teach a class to the High School Juniors and Seniors on how to facilitate a course.

Stay tuned for updates through out the summer on how it is going and trials and tribulations on getting this course to be really kick ass.

Facilitate This!!
